About Japan Halal Guide
Finding genuinely halal food in Tokyo is harder than it should be — information is scattered, out of date, or buried in old forum threads. We pull it into one clear place and tell you exactly how confident we are about each spot.
How we verify
For each restaurant we check public sources — the venue's own site and socials, certifying bodies like the Japan Islamic Trust, maps, and recent reviews — and record what we found and when. Every listing carries a status on this scale:
Our honesty rule
We would rather under-claim than mislead. If we can't corroborate a certificate, we don't call a place "Certified" — it drops to a lower tier with a note to confirm directly. Halal status is personal and consequential, so we treat this guide as a starting point, never the final word. Always confirm current certification, ingredients, and alcohol handling with the restaurant before you rely on it.
How we keep the lights on
Some links to book a table, order delivery, or visit a venue are affiliate links — if you use them we may earn a small commission, at no cost to you. It never changes a listing's halal status or where it ranks. Full detail on our affiliate disclosure page.
